Late March, Six Mounted Police Officers completed a week long “Mounted Police Development Course”. Each student learned how to structure and conduct a mounted police class that is eligible to be certified through Minnesota POST BOARD. The students will learn how to: conduct a training needs assessment, identify learning objectives, write lesson plans, create testing systems, and evaluate students.
Followed up by a new class of Mounted Police Officers. This multi-week training program prepared six new Mounted Officers with the skills, knowledge and confidence to perform their mounted police duties in Downtown Minneapolis including many other equine required skills.
One of the class favorites is the urban trail ride. The officers take all their skills learned and ride the trails along the Mississippi River and Downtown Minneapolis.
Riders Elite Academy wishes each new Mounted Officer safety as they provided this important service to the Citizens and guests of Minneapolis.
